The Total Station Solution
from Get The Point, LLC

With today’s complex construction schedules and detailed architectural features, accurate layout on the jobsite is more critical than ever. With these complex designs comes less mechanical space, and utilities are sometimes being coordinated with ½” clearances. With the use of Get The Point's (GTP) Total Station Solution your field personnel will have the best possible chance to keep up with schedule and layout of your 3D-coordinated drawings and BIM information on the jobsite with more accuracy and less man hours saving time and money.

The GTP Total Station solution allows Contractors to bring BIM to the field and use it to their advantage. Layout now becomes a one person operation with the ability to shoot hundreds of points a day in the dirt, on the deck, or on the floor. GTP Setup, the CAD side of GTP's Total Station solution, not only speeds up your field production, but also cuts down time in your CAD department with our automated or manual point placement utilities. Not to mention the greatly reduced time annotating drawings for dimensions and other layout information.

We've designed GTP Setup to be utilized within Autodesk's AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Revit suite, and Navisworks, not to mention many popular add-on programs. This capability directly makes the BIM model constructible and allows an increase of productivity from the office to the field, thus creating a true clash detection tool for constructing a project.

Get The Point has teamed up with Sokkia to offer the Sokkia SRX line of total stations and the Juniper Mesa Rugged Notepad.

The Total Station:

The SRX X-Series from Sokkia is a fully-robotic, auto-tracking and auto-pointing robotic total station, with on-demand target reacquisition. The SRX X-Series features innovative auto-tracking and EDM technologies that maximize the robotic capability.

Sokkia’s auto-tracking SRX features cutting-edge laser technology, optimized optical design, a newly-developed motor drive mechanicsm, and further refined tracking algorithm, to achieve extremely robust auto-tracking capability. The SRX X-Series constantly tracks a moving prism even in strong backlight or with repetitive interruptions in the line-of-sight, dramatically reducing the possibility of losing a prism lock. Even if the lock is lost, the advanced on-demand remote control system allows the SRX to instantly recover the prism lock, ensuring increased productivity in all robotic surveying and setting-out tasks.

Sokkia’s SRX has Bluetooth wireless technology for cable-free use, making this single-operator Total Station even more convenient. Multiple data interfaces, including USB and Compact Flash, make data in the field easy to transport back to the office. Saving data is easier than ever before with the options of USB or compact flash.

To set this robot apart from all others, the Sokkia SRX offers 1,000m (3,280 ft.) reflectorless measurement range. The new RED-tech 800 EDM provides increased accuracy and range in distance measurements with or without reflectors, incorporating the new optical design, the enhanced signal processing algorithm, as well as the ultra-high signal modulation frequencies of up to 468.75MHz. It measures up to 6,000m (19,680 ft.) distance with a single prism, and up to 800m (2,620 ft.) without a reflector. Sokkia’s developers didn’t stop there; they also enhanced the encoder with IACS technology. Groundbreaking new Independent Angle Calibration System (IACS) provides extremely reliable angle measurement with unprecedented stability.

The Notepad:

Juniper's Mesa Rugged Notepad features the advantages of both a tablet PC and a rugged handheld computer, without the disadvantages of either. The Mesa features a 806 Mhz processor with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, Bluetooth wireless technology, Wi-Fi, and optional Quad-band  3G connectivity. A 3.2 megapixel camera functions as a bar code reader and a highly advanced camera to associate photos with SSF points as Photo Notes.

The Mesa is rated at IP-67, which means it can be sumbersed in water.  Two slots for intelligent Li-Ion batteries provide for up to 16 hours on one charge. Impressively, the Mesa offers 256 MB RAM, 4 GB flash storage, and an SD/SDHC slot accessible to the user.

Sokkia Layout Software:

Sokkia Layout was designed specifically for construction and layout contractors to provide unequaled data collection with simplicity and field calculating performance. Layout takes advantage of the touch screen capability by allowing you to tap points and lines in your drawing to open toolbars with all the functions you need instantly.Whether you are looking to layout cable runs, building corners, or a pipeline, Sokkia Layout provides the flexibility and performance you demand with a simple, straightforward user interface.

Instrument control using the touch-screen is easy to use and very powerful. Access to your instrument controls is available on the main interface at all times, so there is no need to swap to other screens or menus. A graphical interface is the heart of Layout. It helps you see your project in real-time as it is being created. You can quickly visually inspect the data you've gathered and be confident that you have all you need before leaving the site.

Exchange your projects seamlessly between Layout on your Mesa and GTP on your computer. Files are easily transferred using ASCII and DXF formats.
